Job Purpose:
A Painter is a craftsman who has achieved an accomplished level in painting, finishing, and maintaining a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces while working under the supervision of a Lead Painter, Foreman or Project Manager
Duties and Responsibilities or Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates a quality work ethic, is team-oriented, and has positive attitude while being courteous and professional with everyone
- Adheres to company policy and upholds company values and mission statement with integrity in all circumstances
- Communicates effectively with supervisors, co-workers and customers
- Efficiently performs skilled duties related to residential, commercial and/or industrial painting jobs while working independently or with limited supervision.
- Tape off and cover surfaces not to be painted
- Prepare, prime, sand, seal, patch and paint surfaces of buildings (interior and exterior) and fixtures using a variety of finishes
- Operates, cleans and maintains all painting equipment, including spray equipment and safely stores and labels all materials
- Assists in setting up ladders and scaffolding as required in a manner consistent with safety regulations
- Efficiently completing record keeping duties, including but not limited to time cards and office communications
- Meets production requirements as assigned by supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Possess a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with acceptable driving record
- Possess a personal cell phone
- Drug free, passing pre-employment, random, and post-accident drug screenings
- Perform Physical Activities including, but no limited to:
- Lifting equipment and paint (up to 85 pounds unassisted)
- Bending, Climbing, Standing, Walking, Working from heights
- Ability to keep hands steady
- Safely use manual tools, power equipment including Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPS)
- Handle hazardous materials safely
- Ability to differentiate between colors and “mix and match” paints and varnishes
- Understand and execute written and oral instructions.
- Ability and willingness to complete all trainings as required
- Willingness to start early, work mandatory overtime and “irregular hours” as necessary
- Possess required personal tools for the job and maintains tools in good, working condition (see attachment)
- Proficient in all Painter Apprentice requirements.
Education
- High school graduate/GED (preferred, not required)
Experience
- Satisfactory Work History
- 2 years of journeyman-level painter in residential and/or commercial and/or industrial settings, both interior and exterior
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of residential and commercial/industrial practices and processes of the painting trade, including, but not limited to:
- Knowledge of paints, varnishes, lacquers, enamels, epoxies, paint removers, their properties and applications
- Knowledge of applicable code requirements
- Knowledge of operation and maintaining of tools, machinery and power equipment
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards of the painting trade and precautionary measures to be observed
